n8n Troubleshooting Series: Fixes for Self-Hosted n8n Errors
Self-hosting n8n with Docker gives you full control over your automations, and a new class of problems: volumes that mount but can't be read, environment variables that don't apply, webhooks that work locally and fail in production.
This series collects fixes for the errors I actually hit while building with self-hosted n8n. Each post starts from the exact error message, explains the cause, and gives steps you can check one by one. Where I could, I reproduced the problem on a real n8n version, and each post says what was tested and what wasn't.

- How to Fix "Access to the File Is Not Allowed" in n8n 2.x (Docker)
n8n 2.x blocks files outside ~/.n8n-files by default, even when Docker mounts them. Reproduced on n8n 2.44.6, with two tested fixes for Docker Compose.
Got an n8n error that isn't covered yet?
Send it to me with the exact error message and your n8n version. Real problems from readers are the best candidates for the next post.
